KBIS 2021: ‘A Home is Not Smart Unless it’s Healthy’

Image
You could have all the latest A/V offerings and gadgets, but as Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of Delos, Anthony Antolino, explained during The New Frontier panel at KBIS 2021, “a home is not smart unless it’s healthy.” Antolino explained that 70 percent of our health outcomes come from our physical and social environments, meaning that, for the most part, we’re in the driver’s seat when it comes to our health. But negative health factors can’t always be traced back to one particular source. In reality, our bodies are affected by a multitude of things in our environment including the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the light around us. After years of extensive research with some of the world’s leading experts across these disciplines, Delos created the DARWIN platform. DARWIN is designed to improve respiratory, cardiovascular, immune, and cognitive health. During their research, Delos found that 75 percent of people believe housing plays a role in th...

IFA 2021 Canceled as Pandemic Looms

Image
Even though parts of the U.S. are seeing less stringent CDC mask guidelines , suggesting that normalcy is slowly returning, the pandemic rages on in many other areas of the globe. In addition to causing tragic losses of life, the coronavirus also continues to present challenges for live events, particularly those of a global nature. As a result, Messe Berlin and gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH have jointly announced that IFA 2021 will not be held in September . The decision was made following detailed conversations with public health experts and multiple stakeholders. Ultimately, several key global health metrics did not move as fast in the right direction as had been hoped for—from the rapid emergence of new COVID-19 variants, for example in South Asia, to continued uncertainties about the speed of the vaccine rollout around the world. This in turn is adding uncertainty for not only the the companies committed to attending but also media and visitors. Also a consideration is ...

The Smart Home Is a Healthy Home | New Home Connect

Image
Now that smart home technology is a necessity in new home builds, no longer a perk, the trend is moving swiftly toward using this technology to improve our health or manage conditions at home more easily. If your clients have not already mentioned health and wellness concerns in conversations with you just yet, they will undoubtedly be grateful if you bring to their attention all that is possible with smart home technology to improve healthy living. In a recent seminar sponsored by Parks Associates’ Connected Health Summit titled, “Leverage Smart Home for a Healthy Home,” panelists agreed that the next big opportunity is healthy home technology. Consumer concerns range from not just improving fitness but also to sleep quality and clean air. Compound these with the rising concerns about viruses and bacteria lurking in homes, and you have many pain points to target with potential clients. Even with our increased time spent outside the home because of the pandemic, Paul Scialla of D...
